History of Studio JAW

Founded in 1999, Studio JAW started as Seijinohki PC Services. It primarily functioned as a branding for games created by Josephine Anna Wall AKA Skuld and a do business as for Independant IT contract work.

In 2012 it became very clear that the name Seijinohki was confusing and hard to pronounce, it didn't really reflect what the business was and stood for. As of 2012, Seijinohki was renamed to Studio JAW, which I felt better reflected what is I am trying to accomplish here, as a Studio. I felt the name better reflected the fact that I am an indi-game developer with a background in Web Application Development, Graphics Design and Computer Science.

Fast Forward to 2025, Studio JAW has small portfolio of products. But also, I have become known for providing programming tutorials, examples and content for new developers! Besides our handful of products and assistance to beginner developers. Studio JAW also has a fair sized community built along side the success of AI Joken, a Virtual AI Companion that has become the mascot of Studio JAW.

You do all of this ... by yourself?

While the majority of the stuff belonging to Studio JAW was done by just me, I do get some help from people both financially and voluntarily. There are members of my patreon and a co-founder who helps keep me afloat to focus on building out my Studio as a business. There are volunteers who have helped me with my products, moderation and more.

I would one day like to be able to employ people, but at the current moment, all I can do is rely on patrons and volunteers to help me better my products and community outreach.

AI Joken?

For one of our community events, "Scarlet Devil Mansion Party", I needed a bot to manage VRChat instance to ensure the integrity of the instance and help moderate; However, people were more interested in Joken than the event! So I shifted gears for a while to work on Joken and developed a design pattern that has been widely emulated by other VR AI Chat bot creators.

This would give birth to the product AICom which was designed to be Joken's Open Source Software, but designed to be user friendly, flexible, and scalable. An abstracted AI Companion Software Suite allowing users to not only recrete Joken, but create their own Chatbots with their own personalities and commands without the need of fine-tune training or intimate knowledge of AI.
